I went to the Boston Pride playoff game against the New York Riveters yesterday. The series is best two out of three, and the Pride had already won the first game, so I figured if I wanted to see a playoff game this season, it was Saturday or never – and the Pride indeed took the series 2-0 and are heading to the Isobel cup finals!
Goaltender Brittany Ott waiting for the action to come down her way.
Gabie Figueroa, defense, driving the puck towards the goal.
Going after the puck!
Blake Bolden, defense(wo)man, turning the puck away from the net. She scored later on in the game!
Jenny Scrivens, goalie, diving down to protect her net.
Fighting for possession behind the net.
Hilary Knight, forward, planning her pass. One of my favorite things about this season has been watching the Pride develop and grow as a team – it’s fascinating to be able to watch from the very beginning!
The battle for the puck continues! The Pride are really strong offensively and generally retain possession of the truck!
I love that the rinks are small and informal (for a professional game.) I get to stand right outside the rink and get super close to all the action!
The final stretch of the game, before the Pride took it 7-4. The Riveters put up quite the fight, but Boston’s team could not be beat!
Celebrating the win! Fingers crossed for the Isobel cup and I can’t wait to watch these teams next season!
