An older collection of photographs, from 2012 when I visited the Houston Zoo with my best friend, Dani!
An antelope-type.
And maybe a hornbill bird? I think I actually took notes for this one, but don’t have them now. Please feel free to identify in the comments! Identified! It’s a Shoe-billed Stork, courtesy of matthias1982, of the ever-informative and really awesome wild life: travel and nature photography.
Flamingos! I love how they always arrange themselves so nicely.
Dani posing for the camera!
They had a baby elephant! It was so adorable – we stood and watched it for a good ten minutes.
The Komodo dragon came up the glass and posed for me – she’s quite the show-off!
They also had Blanco, one of only 14 white alligators in existance. Tick-tock, tick-tock.
Dani really connected with the chimpanzees. They sat made faces at each other for quite a while.
Two rhinos sharing a yummy treat.
A giraffe lazing in the hot Texas sunshine.
And, of course, a bald eagle.
Finally, a gopher or prairie dog enjoying his afternoon snack. I have to admit, I’m a big fan of veggies and this doesn’t look that bad.
I really enjoyed the Houston Zoo – there was a wide variety of animals to see, there was lots of strolling around, and all the animals look quite contented in their enclosures. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
It’s a Shoe-billed Stork!! 🙂 Looks like you had a great day in the zoo!! 🙂
